I've also been forever avoidant of La La Land, whatever puts me off of widely acclaimed movies πŸ˜… But after I watched Barbie and Drive on the same day, and seeing Gosling's reactions to various people, questions and events, I'm finally sold on him, so maybe I should finally watch it, too πŸ‘€ Besides, Stone is also a lot of fun to watch as an actress

Oh Daria, this is so fun to read as it was the same for me πŸ˜… I wasn't sure about Barbie and decided to watch Little Women and Drive first on the same weekend. I went from not being a Ryan Gosling fan (I believe that was the first film of his I saw) to understand a lot of things and now I have been trying to catch up on his films and I genuinely think he must be a really nice person, too. I do like him and Stone in La La Land and then it was a very satisfying movie on so many levels, so I'm glad I've backtracked on my reluctance to watch it. Give it a go and see what happens.

Thank you, Gareth. It is a great article and loved learning about Anna May Wong. Shortly after reading your piece I came across her name again in a book and I immediately thought β€œI know who she is”. Looking forward to reading your thoughts on Dune.
